Instructor Bio
Mike Snyder, a native West
Virginian dubbed “the dean of West Virginia fly-fishing
instructors,” began his Fastwater Flyfishing School in 1978. Mike
began trout fishing as a boy in the 1950’s. He started
fly-fishing seriously in 1967 while living in the Rocky Mountains
of Colorado. Mike is a school teacher, writer, and former
full-time blacksmith, whose ironwork has been shown at the
Smithsonian. A conservationist by nature, Mike uses de-barbed
