2008 Augusta Class Letter

Week 1
Cajun/Creole Week
Advanced Accordion
Wilson Savoy

Hi folks,

This year is going to be awesome – teaching the afternoon advanced accordion classes after Ray Abshire is a big honor for me.  I taught with Ray a few years back in Port Townsend, Washington.  This will be my 5th year at Augusta, returning after a two years of absence.  We are going to take a number of songs and work on improvisation of the melodies.  Anyone signed up in the “advanced’ class is expected to be totally awesome and not need any help at all – in fact, maybe you can teach the class one day!  Ha, we’re going to have a great time and learn some hot licks on the accordion, like triplets and syncopated beats.

All you need is an accordion in the key of C and enthusiasm for playing this wonderful Cajun music.

Best to all,

– Wil
