2008 Augusta Class Letter

Week 1
Cajun/Creole Week
Electric Bass

Lisa Reed

Here is a quick review of how I conduct my class. First, I feel the best way to learn is to just jump into it. I review the basic scales of the bass, show students how to tune their bass, if necessary, and demonstrate proper bass posture.  Once the students are comfortable with the instrument, then the fun really begins. I’ve put together a CD of my favorite bass tunes, from some real simple tunes to more complicated ones, and we will play along like we are in the bands! It would be helpful if the student had a background of playing guitar, or playing Cajun music in some form or fashion, but not necessary.

Please bring an electric bass (4 string) and a small amplifier to class.
