Joe Newberry started out in Missouri, then reversed the historic migration by heading to North Carolina as a young man. He immersed himself in Appalachian and Ozark singing traditions. His grandfather was a friend of the great folk song collector Vance Randolph, and Joe grew up singing the old songs he learned from his family. He plays and sings with Big Medicine and the original Red Clay Ramblers. www.myspace.com/joenewberry
