Christopher Germain
is a skilled
professional violinmaker and restorer
whose studio is in
Philadelphia's Center City. (Chris is also an accomplished old-time fiddler.) Studying under Tschu Ho Lee, he graduated from the Chicago School of Violin Making in 1985.
In 1995, he was asked by Vahakn Nigogosian to serve as an
instructor at the Stringed Instrument Restoration Workshop at Oberlin
College where he eventually succeeded Nigo as the director of that program, which now
concentrates on new instrument making. He divides his time between
restoring fine stringed instruments and building new violins, violas, and cellos.
