Chris Stuart

As a consummate songsmith, the vibrant lead singer for Chris Stuart & Backcountry has won first-prize at the Merlefest Songwriting Contest in both the bluegrass and gospel categories. His songs have been recorded by Claire Lynch, Dale Ann Bradley, and Larry Cordle and five have made the Bluegrass Unlimited top-30 chart. He was nominated by SPBGMA as Songwriter of the Year in 2005. Chris was nominated as the 2006 IBMA Print Media Person of the Year. He’s taught harmony vocals and rhythm guitar at the British Columbia Bluegrass Workshops and also taught at the American River Music Camp, the California Bluegrass Association music camp and the Sorefingers Bluegrass Week in the UK.   www.chrisstuart.com
