Augusta Heritage Center
Frequently Asked Questions

1.  I want to sign up for a class and bring my spouse with me, but he/she does not want to take a class, can I do that?

In order to stay in campus housing, one must be registered for a full-time class (not just a mini-course), but you may choose to stay off-campus at a local motel, campground, or bed and breakfast, and your spouse could explore while you’re in class. Of course there are certain events that are open to the public that she/he could attend with you. Most dances are open for a small fee as well as all the concerts (admission fee applies). There are also other events open to the public, such as lectures, group sessions, etc. Also nightly jams and singings are open to all.

2.  I want to be an instructor at Augusta, what should I do?

Send a resume and class proposal to Augusta Heritage Center, Attn: Joyce Rossbach, 100 Campus Drive, Elkins, WV 26241. Include your teaching experience, professional experience, and any information you deem pertinent. Be sure to include personal and professional references.

Include a brief outline of the class you are proposing and how you feel it will fit in with Augusta’s programming and mission, i.e. a particular theme week and/or a stand-alone class. Remember that our classes usually meet for a large portion of the day for five days. Stand-alone classes meet all day.

3.  I want to perform at one of Augusta’s concerts, what should I do?

Augusta does not hire staff for the sole purpose of performing. We hire instructors who are also performers for the most part. The performers at our concerts include those who are full-time instructors or staff members for that particular week.
